James George Janecek, 83, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at his home.
He was born February 12, 1943 in St. Joseph, son of Bertha and George Janecek. He graduated from Benton High School, class of 1961 and attended Calvary Bible College. On. August 26, 1960, James married Shirley Bottorff in Wathena, KS. James worked as a Diesel Mechanic at several places including International Harvester and Cummins Mid America. He and Shirley also owned and operated Linden Mobile Home Park in the KC area for 30 years. James was a proud collector 1953 and 1954 Ford Jubilee Tractor. He enjoyed raising bees, going fishing and traveling. He was a member of Frazier Baptist Church. The Legacy he leaves is his love of Christ as Savior and Lord and the witness he was to hundreds of people. His favorite thing was to pass out Four Spiritual Laws to people he met in restaurants and anywhere he was in public. He had a very real concern for lost people.
James was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Barbara Ann Capra, and sister, Mary Coady. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved his family dearly and will be missed.
Survivors include wife, Shirley Janecek of the home, son, James F. (Brenda) Janecek of Stockton, MO, daughter, Debra Lea Janecek of Kansas City, MO, grandchildren, John Eichler, Jennifer Eichler, Jessica Eichler, and Jimmy Janecek, great-grandchildren, Brayden Eichler, Annie Gemmill, Aaron Gemmill, Zabe Eichler and Wesley Janecek.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2026 at Rupp Funeral Home with Pastor George Watts officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Sunday at the Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at the Bethel Cemetery, DeKalb, MO. Memorials are requested to the Frazier Baptist Church.
