Mary H. Bodenhausen (Freeland) 1929 - 2024

Mary H. Bodenhausen, 94, of Muscotah, KS died on Sunday, July 07, 2024, at the Pines South, in Holton, KS.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Thursday, July 11th, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Neill officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 10th at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Camp Creek United Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Mary was born on December 8, 1929, in Horton Kansas the daughter of James P. and Ethel Mary (Bartley) Freeland. She attended Brush Creek Grade School and was an active member of the Brush Creek 4-H Club. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1947. She later graduated as part of the first class to graduate in the Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1950 and helped start the school nursing program in the Atchison County Community school district in 1966. She retired as a registered nurse and enjoyed traveling, sewing and helping at church with various projects.

She was married to Dale R. Bodenhausen, her high school sweetheart on December 31, 1950, in Horton, KS. Dale preceded her in death on Sept. 23, 2013. Survivors include two sons: Steven Bodenhausen, Horton, KS, and Mark Bodenhausen, Muscotah, KS, a daughter in law, Linda Bodenhausen, Muscotah, KS, three grandchildren Christopher (Megan) Bodenhausen, Muscotah, Ryan (Kayla) Bodenhausen, Muscotah and Jeni (Bob) Hespe, Overland Park, KS, great grandchildren, Caleb and Natalie Bodenhausen, Brinley and Bryer Bodenhausen, Tommy and Luke Hespe. Her parents, a son Mike Bodenhausen, a brother James Freeland preceded her in death.
