The St. Joseph City Council will continue looking at ordinances related to data centers and zoning requirements for building the faciliites in the area during Monday's city council meeting.
There are two ordinances related to zoning and development guidelines for potential data center projects on the docket for Monday's meeting which City Council members will vote on, which were postponed at the last meeting. During the same meeting, residents continued to pressure council members to consider the effects of data centers on the community, as well as voicing concerns about a proposed contract with GBA Inc.
The council has amended the city's contract with GBA Inc. The original ordinance stated GBA Inc. will provide the city with certain services related to data center development, including recommended zoning revisions and development guidelines, among other things, in an amount not to exceed $42,440. With the amendments from the city, GBA Inc. will provide the city with certain services related to data center issues, including recommended zoning revisions and development guidelines to protect St. Joseph residents and their property, among other things, at a cost not to exceed $42,440.
One other contract is being considered by city council members with Renew Missouri Advocates for up to $10,750 for community outreach and legal services related to data center development. The city council will meet at 5:30pm on Monday, in the Council Chambers at City Hall.
