David Paul Shobe 1985 - 2024

David Paul Shobe, 38, Lawrence, Kansas, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024.

He was born on August 22, 1985, to Robert Jr. and Dorothy (Fish) Shobe in Kirksville, Missouri.

David earned his associate degree from Baker University, and also attended the University of Kansas. He completed his officer training for the police department at Missouri Western State University. He was employed through the Plattsburg Police Department for several years.

He was currently working as a leadership advisor for the University of Kansas Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, and also served as an overseer for children in protective custody at O’Connell Youth Ranch. David was passionate about working with children and had a gift for being a safe person that children flocked to.

David might come off as intimidating, but underneath his large stature was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Everywhere he went, he never met a stranger. David easily made lasting friendships with the people he would meet and made them feel important.

He had a strong Christian faith and was also an ordained minister who officiated countless wedding ceremonies for his friends and family. David grew up at the Hurdland Southern Baptist Church where he was baptized.

David was a sports fanatic who enjoyed watching wrestling programs. He was a huge KU basketball and football fan, and a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert L. Shobe Sr.; grandmother, Frances Hayes; uncle, David Brogan; and his beloved dog and best friend, Moose.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Lewis (Vince); father, Robert L. Shobe Jr; beloved daughter, Mykie Shobe; loving fiancée, Sheila Ellis; sisters, Lisa Johnson and Katie Shobe; grandmother, Susie Shobe; God-son, Isaac McCurren; nephew, Aaron Lee Johnson; niece, Lexus Johnson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 11:30 – 12:30 P.M. Monday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
