Northwest Missouri State volleyball sweeps Missouri Western Tuesday

The No. 13-ranked Northwest Missouri State volleyball team moved its win streak to five in a row with a sweep of Missouri Western at the MWSU Fieldhouse Tuesday

The Bearcats (17-5, 11-3 MIAA) won 25-18, 25-18 and 25-22. Northwest has won nine consecutive matches against Missouri Western. The Griffons dropped to 7-15 overall and 4-10 in league play.

Northwest recorded its lowest hitting percentage in a victory this season at .132. Northwest had a season-low 33 kills and committed 17 attack errors.

The Bearcats made up for a lower than normal hitting percentage by serving up nine aces. Alyssa Rezac had four aces, while Payton Kirchhoefer secured three. 

Kirchhoefer and Jaden Ferguson tied for team-high kill honors with eight each. Kirchhoefer secured a team-best 17 digs.

Hailey Crane led Missouri Western with seven kills. She also had a team-high tying 12 digs.

The Bearcats will be back in action Friday at home against Missouri Southern. The match will start at 6 p.m.  

Missouri Western next faces Fort Hays State (10-12, 5-9 MIAA) on Friday at 6 p.m. at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays, Kansas.
