St. Joseph man hospitalized, arrested after rear-end crash

ANDREW COUNTY —A Missouri felon is in custody after following an accident just before 6p.m. Friday in Andrew County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Ford Taurus driven by Stephen C. Blakley, 38, St. Joseph, was northbound on Interstate 29 ten miles north of St. Joseph. 

The Ford rear-ended a 1999 Volvo driven by Kyle A. Thompson, 33, Independence, Missouri. Both vehicles pulled to the right shoulder and the Ford rear-ended the Volvo a second time.

Andrew County EMS transported Blakley to Mosaic Life Care. Thompson was not injured.  

Blakley was also arrested for driving while intoxicated, operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner involving an accident, a felony warrant for a parole violation, no insurance, and for not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
