Kenneth Sean McConnaughey, age 62, of Lancaster, Kansas, died unexpectedly on March 29, 2023, at his home.
He was born on February 22, 1961, in Bremerton, WA, the son of Jim McConnaughey and Pamela (White) McConnaughey. He graduated high school and was the first person in his family to graduate college; he earned his Associate’s Degree in welding. He acquired the nicknames Lurch and Stretch, and those names have trickled down through his children over the years.
He lived a very busy and interesting life in his work adventures. He began as an independent welder in Aberdeen, WA, and from there he was all over the country doing what he did best: welding and fabricating. He was employed with Boeing in Seattle, Omaha Standard in Iowa, Midwestern Metals in Topeka and he completed his tenure with Berry Manufacturing in Wichita until he retired for medical reasons. You could sum him up as a guy who was good with his hands.
Even though Kenneth was an exceptional welder, his favorite part of life was his family and his children: James, Sean, Michael and Teresa. He is also survived by his mother; two brothers, Ron and Tracy; and eight grandchildren. He loved his family. He enjoyed his hobbies through life, including racing go carts with his friends, bowling, fishing, hunting, rock and roll, darts and all animals. Nature in general brought peace and happiness to his life and he took up gardening and tree and shrub maintenance around his home.
Kenneth has been cremated under the care and direction of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home and a celebration of life will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at BNA hosted by Bill & Wendy Miller and family.
