This year's Parties on the Parkway concert series kicks off tomorrow, May 14th, with R&B band Doc's 100 Proof taking stage at Southwest Parkway and King Hill Drive at 5 PM.
Admission is free, with food and drink vendors.
Kristi Bailey with the Saint Joseph Chamber of Commerce, says Doc's 100 Proof had their fanbase turn out when it came time to pick bands this year:
"We always ask on our social media for recommendations like 'who do you want to hear?' And Doc's 100 Proof had a lot of fans ask for them. So we definitely had to book them, they were first up."
Bailey adds the series is meant to show off Saint Joseph's parkway system, a 26-mile stretch that weaves all the way through town, from Krug Park on Saint Joseph Avenue, to Southside's Hyde Park on Alabama. Bailey also mentioned a new kid's zone for the concerts this year.
