The St. Joseph Mustangs (13-7) scored their third straight win Thursday with a 13-8 victory over the Joplin Outlaws at Phil Welch Stadium.
Trailing 6-2 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, the Mustangs put up six runs in the sixth and five more in the seventh to take the lead for good.
Dylan Carey and Jack Wagner each had a pair of hits, while Karl Koerper had a single-shot home run in the fourth inning.
St. Joseph native Dawson Smith started on the mound, going 5.2 innings and striking out six while walking four and surrendering four earned runs.
Another St. Joseph native, Tanner Schmidt, got the win on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings, striking out two and allowing no hits.
The Mustangs stay home to host the Carroll Merchants both Friday and Saturday. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. both nights.
