St. Joseph police took a man into custody on suspicion of drunk driving after he drove through a southside St. Joseph church parking, hit a vehicle when he drove back onto the street, went through one backyard fence twice, and another once, before arriving at his home.
Police made the arrest at about 12:30 Thursday morning. Charges are pending against the St. Joseph resident said to be in his 20s.
According to police, the man drove into the Evolution United Methodist Church parking lot, did a few donuts, went back onto West Valley Street, struck a vehicle, went through one fence twice, then through another, hit a gas meter at the back of a house in the 200 block of West Valley, and stopped in his driveway.
The driver of the vehicle hit was taken to the hospital for observation, complaining of back pain.
