Michael Douglas Underwood, 64, of Atchison KS died on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Michael was born on May 25, 1961, in Atchison, KS, the son of Clyde and Dorothy (Shell) Underwood. He attended Atchison schools and worked as a maintenance mechanic for Mid-West Grain Products for over 26 years. His family was members of the First Christian Church where he attended as a young boy. Michael enjoyed bowling, hunting, working on cars, going to the casinos, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include three sons, Christopher (Sara Hamilton) Underwood, Atchison, David (Shelby) Underwood, Atchison, and Brad Berkstresser, Kansas City. Two brothers, Jim (Mechelle) Underwood, and John (Mario) Underwood, both of Atchison, KS, two sisters, Linda Underwood, and Barb (Rodney) Griffin, both of Atchison, KS, sister-in-law Melinda Underwood, one granddaughter Hannah Underwood, and one baby on the way. His parents preceded him in death and a brother Dick Underwood.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Oct. 7th, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. William Mitchell officiating. The body will be cremated following the services and a private family burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery, Effingham, KS. The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Evergreen Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
