Joan "Jo Ann" Huber, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Carriage Square, surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on June 7, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Luther Allen and Naomi Lee (Earp) Auwarter. She was a lifelong resident and 1958 graduate of Lafayette High School.
Mrs. Huber was a homemaker, she was a devoted wife, loving mother and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother.
Joan was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending the early morning exercise classes at Alice's where she formed many friendships. She looked forward to weekly coffee meetings with friends, gardening, she enjoyed was an excellent cook, fishing with her husband, cheering on the Royals, but above all she loved attending her grandchildren's' sporting events and activities.
Joan married James Huber on May 22, 1958, and together they celebrated sixty-six years of marriage and raised their two children together.
Survivors include her husband; son, James, Jr. (Joan) Huber; daughter, Gina (Lonnie) Gay; three grandchildren, Jasey (Brandon) Sparks, Hayley Gay and Dalton Gay; three great-grandchildren Oliver and Stella Sparks and Linnie Gay and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joan was also preceded in death by her siblings, Bernice McKerlie, Doris Wilson, Sue Clary, William DeVeal Auwarter and Donald Auwarter.
Mrs. Huber has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held at a later day.
