An unfortunate season for the Royals has now grown more unfortunate as the team announced Wednesday that one young slugger might miss the remainder of the season.
The Royals placed first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino on the injury list last Friday after he left the game that day against the Baltimore Orioles, the injury listed as right shoulder instability. Now as it turns out, the injury is worse than initially expected.
An MRI revealed Pasquantino will now have to undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The surgery is expected to force him to miss the remainder of the 2023 season.
The 25-year-old left-handed slugger was a bright spot for the Royals this season, after making his major league debut midway through last season, slashing .247/.324/.437 with nine home runs and 26 RBI's over 61 games.
