Judith Ann “Judy” Halferty, 86, St. Joseph, MO, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Gower Convalescent Center.
She was born January 17, 1938 in Plattsburg, MO to J.B. and Delores Halferty. She was raised in Plattsburg and later moved to St. Joseph, MO, where she lived most of her adult life.
Preceding her in death were her parents, J.B. and Delores Halferty; brother, Jimmy Halferty; and nephew, J.W. Lile.
Ms. Halferty held a B.S. in Education from Missouri Western State University and a M.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. She started the first pre-school program at Lake Contrary School in St. Joseph and finished her teaching career at Bessie Ellison School teaching kindergarten.
She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, P.E.O. Chapter BJ, where she was Past President and Past Reciprocity President, Retired Missouri Teachers Association, the St. Joseph Runcie Club, and an active member of McCarthy Baptist Church.
Survivors: a daughter, Jennifer Lambright and husband Steve of Madison, MS; three grandchildren, Kyle Lambright (Leah) of Union, KY, Troy Lambright of Shreveport, LA, and Katie Lambright Beddingfield (Jeff) of Jackson, MS; six great-grandchildren, Kenzie, Miller, Micah, Layla, Knox, and Tyler Kate Lambright; sister, Janette Lile (Don) of Gower, MO; nephew, Don Lile (Ashley); and former husband, John C. Leimbach.
