Donald Wayne Schweder, 91, was born and raised in the French Bottoms of St. Joseph, MO to Herman and Lela (Milbourn) Schweder. Don passed away November 22, 2023 in the company of his family.
Don was a union sheet metal worker for Local 2 at Hausman Metalworks and Roofing. He was a founding member of Green Valley Baptist Church. In 1951, he married Virginia Gill who preceded him in death in February 2009. Don was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Vicky Lynn Schweder and a brother; Herman Henry "Junior" Schweder.
He is survived by four daughters; Susan Walker (Bill), Janet Didlo (Ernie), Donna Vogel Roberts, Robbin Talbot (Martin) and a sister Barbara Stanton. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Billy Walker (Nichole), Dustin Didlo (Dena), Ryan Vogel (Jennifer), Joseph Talbot (Tori), Jason Talbot, Lana Poland, Rachael Bailey (Stephen), Tabitha Mercer (Winslow) and Ginny Didlo (Anthony); 17 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to Jason Atkinson and the team from hospice and his special girls on hall three that took great care and loved him as their own.
Visitation 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Monday, November 27th at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Funeral service 10:00 AM Tuesday at our chapel. Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery.
