St. Joseph Post
InterServ seeks volunteers and donations to help south St. Joseph residents who have been flooded out of their homes this week.
InterServ reports nearly 200 residents of the south end remain out of their homes, some wondering if their residences will ever be fit to return to.
Located in south St. Joseph since 1909, InterServ says it is committed to assisting its neighbors. The agency is organizing volunteers and resources to respond to flood victims. It requests church and civic groups which are willing to form work groups to remove debris and water damaged items, or to clean interiors to contact Larraine Jones, Volunteer Services Director for InterServ at 816-238-4511.
InterServ is now accepting monetary and food donations for flood victims. Financial donations will be used for temporary housing needs, food, clothing and immediate needs. Contributions can be sent to InterServ, The Southside Neighborhood Help Fund. PO BOX 4216, Saint Joseph, MO 64504.
Our Food Pantry is open Mon-Fri to accept food donations. Drive-up, drop-off services are being offered due to COVID0-19. There will also be a supply distribution this Saturday morning at the Civic Arena (bleach, mops, other cleaning supplies and equipment).
