Colin Pettegrew, a math teacher at Robidoux Middle School, and Todd Shifflett, a business/finance/history teacher at King City, were selected as the two Northwest Missouri Regional Teachers of the Year.

The announcement was made this week by the Northwest Regional Professional Development Center.

The Northwest Regional Teacher of the Year award is part of the Missouri Teacher of the Year program, sponsored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).

The program recognizes the efforts of effective teachers in providing a quality education to their students. Shifflett and Pettegrew will be honored this October in Jefferson City, where the 2021-22 Missouri Teacher of the Year will be announced.

The selection committee, comprised of teachers, business leaders and education organization leaders, will choose the Teacher of the Year following interviews with each finalist this fall.

The new Missouri Teacher of the Year will serve as the state’s nominee for the National Teacher of the Year competition.
