Jean (Ogden) Blanton, 93, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024.
She was born December 24, 1930 in Strickler, Arkansas to Charles and Dona (Cantrell) Ogden.
Jean married James “Buck” Blanton on April 19, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2006.
She was a pricing specialist for American Electric for many years, retiring in 1991.
Jean was an awesome cook and baker, with homemade noodles and fried chicken being two of her family’s favorites. The grandchildren looked forward to Christmas dinner at Jean’s house, where they would get to eat on her fine china.
She also enjoyed sewing and doing crossword and word search puzzles.
Jean was a former member of Community Presbyterian Church.
A very loving person, Jean was the best mother and a great grandmother. Her love of children led many to call her “Grandma Jean.”
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Buck; her parents; granddaughter, Sandra R. Judd; siblings, Harvey G. Ogden, Harold P. Ogden, Josephine Palmer, Earl Dean Ogden, and Kathryn Ent.
Survivors include her children, Mary C. Blanton, Marsha L. Wright (Dale), and Janet K. Wells (Kevin); four grandchildren, William James Ellis (Lesley), Stacie Loyd (Bill), Jason T. Ulmer (Heather), and Brandon J. Ulmer; four great-grandchildren, Justin Ellis, Garrett Ellis, Matthew Ellis, and Cole Ellis; three great-great-grandchildren, Hunter, Brantley and Elliana; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
