A head-on crash on a St. Joseph city street late Friday night sent a car into a water-filled ditch, killing a 22-year-old mother and her two young children. A third child died later at a local hospital.

St. Joseph police report the crash occurred in the 2900 block of Pear Street around 11 o’clock Friday night.

Police say the two cars collided. One of the cars rolled over into the ditch, filled with water from recent rains. The woman and two of her children, ages one and four, were pronounced dead at the scene. The third child, a three-year-old, died today at the hospital.

A fundraiser has been set up on Facebook by Cynthia Davis, the sister of Amy Morse, killed in that crash. Davis identifies the children killed as 4-year-old Rosalie, 2-year-old Braxton, and one-year-old Anastasia.

The Facebook post reports $38,000 of the $40,000 goal has already been raised. The money will be used to offset funeral and burial expenses.

Two people in the other car suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The wreck remains under investigation.
