Nancy Carol Nuss 1950 - 2023

Posted May 02, 2023 9:03 PM

Nancy Carol Nuss was called by her Lord and Savior to her eternal home on Saturday, April 29, 2023 after a brief battle with pancreatic/liver cancer.

Nancy was born November 11, 1950 in Leavenworth, Kansas, the eldest of the four daughters of Norman and Margarette Nolop. After graduating from Leavenworth High School, she earned her B.S. in Education from Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University NE) in Seward, Nebraska.

In 1972 she married her high school sweetheart Maxwell Nuss. Together they travelled coast to coast with his employment, having one adventure after another, meeting so many new friends and creating their own life. If asked, she would chuckle as she commented that her resume was more than three pages long. Her work career spanned so many job descriptions, but she summed them all into "I was an educator."

Nancy felt you were never too old to learn- or to help someone learn. She loved cruising to Alaska and Hawaii...twice each! Hobbies included reading, gardening, arts and crafts, piecing quilt tops, and shark tooth hunting while walking on Florida beaches with the love of her life.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Max Nuss; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy Nuss (Dalin Horner); three sisters Kay (Roger) Lehr, Cindy Meyer, Peggy Sue Wilson; nieces and nephews.

The family offers a special thank you for unwavering care and concern provided to Nancy by Pastor Damian Snyder, the staff of Crossroad Hospice and Palliative Care, her Saturday Night Trinity Family, and family and friends who sent cards and well wishes.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church from 10-11:30 A.M. Funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:30 A.M. Burial will follow at 12:30 P.M. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
