Sam Johnson, 80, Republic, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024.
He was born February 26, 1944 in Hamburg, Iowa to Samuel Gilbert and Virginia (Meador) Johnson. Sam grew up in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School.
Sam married Sharon Lynn Oswald on April 30, 1966.
He worked for Wilbert Burial Vault Company in St. Joseph for 40 years.
Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating, and was a master at grilling. A little on the ornery side, he was known for his love of teasing his grandchildren — and anyone else who came along.
Sam also loved time with his family, who will treasure those memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include Sharon Johnson; his children, Greg Johnson (Annie) and Jeff Johnson (Linda); grandchildren, Nicholas Johnson and Megan Kimzey (Connor); sister, Jane Conard (Ron); nephews, Brad and Brian Conard; sister-in-law, Joy Oswald; and several cousins.
