Daniel Joseph "Catfish" Kerns Sr., 53, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday November 13, 2023 in St. Joseph. He was born June 29, 1970 in St. Joseph, son of Elizabeth & Frankie Gibson. He attended Mid Buchanan High School. Joe worked at Sara Lee Foods and also in Concrete Construction. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and horseshoes, coloring, going camping and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lyle Ray Gibson, and maternal grandparents, Billy and Margaret Kerns. He is survived by brother, Frankie "LeRoy" Gibson of Agency, MO, sister, Kristine Galvan of Savannah, MO, daughter, Tiffany (Dennis) Steeby of St. Joseph, son, Daniel "DJ" Joseph (Christina ) Kerns, Jr. of Riverside, MO, grandchildren, Joey, Korin, Andrew, Emily, Olivia, McKenlee, and Caydence, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home, funeral services following at 6:00 pm. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Joe Kerns Memorial Fund in care of the Rupp Funeral Home.
