Suspect in domestic dispute gives up to St. Joseph police after 5-hour standoff

A St. Joseph man suspected in a domestic assault has been taken into custody after a nearly five-hour standoff.

St. Joseph police report officers arrived at a residence in the 2500 block of South 15th Street after receiving a report about a domestic assault/robbery.

Police say the victim made a report at 6:30 Tuesday night. Officers located the suspect, a 28-year-old man, at a residence in the 2300 block of Felix Street, but he refused to give himself up. The Special Response Team surrounded the residence and he finally gave up to police without incident shortly before two o’clock Wednesday morning.
