St. Joseph police have located the home of a three-year-old girl found, nonverbal and without clothing, on Douglas Street earlier today.
St. Joseph police Captain Jeff Wilson says officers found the child after an emergency call came in late Monday morning.
“We were called to a location on Douglas Street today in reference to a young, female child that was found; we approximated her at three-years-old. The child was without clothing, appeared to be healthy, but was not communicating, was nonverbal with us,” Wilson tells St. Joseph Post.
St. Joseph police requested the public’s help in locating the child through various social media.
Wilson says officers began an investigation, which included canvassing the area before the child’s home was located, along with her father and mother.
The investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The Missouri Division of Child Services is also investigating.
