Kathy LaRaine Prewitt, 63, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away with her family by her side on November 13, 2024. Kathy was born January 11, 1961, in St. Joseph, to Harold Wayne and Patricia Gay (Nolan) Merritt.
She was a graduate of Benton High School and Concorde Community College. She worked in construction and was a homemaker and entrepreneur.
She loved boating, traveling, golfing and spending time with family and dear friends. She loved Chiefs football. Go Chiefs!!
She married Walter L. Prewitt on November 15, 2012 in Tupelo, MS, and he preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents, cousins, aunts, and nephews.
Survivors include her daughters, Misty Whetstine of St. Augustine, FL, Angi Payne of Harrisonville, MO, Jami Payne - Reed and beloved son-in-law Logan Reed of Bozeman, MT; grandchildren, Brittani Murphy, Audrey McQuade, Tristin Whetstine, Morgann Whetstine, Trenton Whetstine, Liberty Hill, Nolan Payne; great-grandsons, Lucian Whetstine, Elias Prewitt; sisters Jody Harrison, Linda Steele, Susan Keller; brothers Junior Merritt, Cameron Merritt; many other cousins, second cousins, bonus children and grandchildren.
Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.
