Scott A. Schimke, 59, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday morning, April 11, 2026.
Born February 26, 1967, in Leavenworth, KS to Ralph H. Schimke and Patricia A. Schimke, Scott was a lifelong Leavenworth County resident. Scott attended Lansing school district throughout his childhood and he graduated from Lansing High School in 1985 as Valedictorian. He went on to attend Kansas State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. It was during his sophomore year at K-State that he met the love of his life, Lynda M. Schimke. They married on June 30, 1990 at First Christian Church in Manhattan, Kansas.
Scott spent most of his life in Lansing with his wife Lynda and his two loving children, Lance Schimke and Marissa Schimke. Scott worked at Hallmark as a Senior Engineer II for 24 years. He then worked at Garmin for six years. Scott received numerous patents during his career, including a patent instrumental in creating the singing-card while at Hallmark. Scott loved to spend time with his family and his two dogs, Cardi and Missy. He enjoyed working on home improvement projects, being in his garden, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas State Wildcats. He served as an Elder at Trinity Lutheran Church, the same congregation he attended most of his life.
Scott is survived by his wife Lynda; his children Lance and Marissa; his father Ralph; his sister Tammy Purcell; and his nieces and nephews Gage Schimke, Jaden Schimke, Lauren Terrance, Alex Mintz, Courtney Mouhourtis, Meaghan Rabb, Christian Sylvis, and Alaura Sylvis. He joinshis mother Patricia; brother John Schimke; mother and father-in-law Harold and Nedra Sylvis; grandparents Walter and Lucielle Coldren, and Herbert and Loraine Schimke; and uncles George Schimke and Eddie King, in the kingdom of heaven.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 18, 2026 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church (2101 10th Avenue, Leavenworth, KS 66048) with funeral services to follow. The Rev. Damian Snyder will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Muncie Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.
