Steep rise in COVID-19 cases continues; two more deaths reported

COVID-19 cases continue their steep rise in Buchanan County with 81 new coronavirus cases reported Monday after 53 on Sunday and 80 on Saturday.

St. Joseph health officials also report two more deaths, one a woman in her 40s, the other a woman in her 70s, both with underlying health conditions.

Buchanan County now has recorded 2,509 cases since the pandemic began, resulting in 27 deaths.

Mosaic Life Care reports 51 COVID-19 patients at its St. Joseph hospital as of Tuesday morning. Mosaic reports two COVID patients are being treated in Maryville.

Mosaic has now tested 33,330 area residents with 2,421 testing positive. Mosaic is awaiting results from 334 tests.

Andrew County health officials report 373 total COVID-19 cases with three deaths.

Doniphan County, Kansas reports 106 cases.

In Missouri, health officials report 123,276 cases with deaths now totaling 2,074.

Kansas health officials report 58,629 cases, resulting in 637 deaths.
