A 24-year-old man was struck and injured after apparently throwing himself in front of a car traveling north on the I-229 double decker bridge in downtown St. Joseph very early Thursday morning.
St. Joseph police report the pedestrian has been hospitalized in stable condition.
Police say the driver cooperated with officers at the scene. According to police, a man walking along I-229 at about 2:18 this morning appears to have jumped in front of a car which ran into him.
The St. Joseph Police Department has determined the young man suffers from a mental health issue. The department is not releasing the man's identity.
