Jack Edward Platz, 96, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was born on July 5, 1928 in Fairview, Pennsylvania to Earl and Ethel Platz He was one of seventeen children and subsequently, would be the last one to survive death. Jack lived in St. Joseph, Missouri with his wife, Patricia Mortimor Platz.
He worked for True Temper for forty-eight years, first in Lake City, Pennsylvania, second in Amory, Mississippi and finally as Plant Manager in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jack grew up in and around Girard, Pennsylvania. He attended Union High School where he met and married the late Mary Louise West. They had five children together.
Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also loved sports. In later years he enjoyed planting a garden and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Patty; two sons, Thomas Edward Platz and John Charles Platz (Renee); three daughters, Suzanne Grissom (Butch), Patricia Mae Crotwell (Steve) and JoAnn Louise Cavanah (Deriek); three step-daughters, Teresa Cross (Mike), Terri Jennings (Ray), Renee Mortimor, eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and even some great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Platz was cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There are no services or visitation scheduled at this time.
