Linda Kay Older Swope 1948 - 2023

Linda Kay Older Swope, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on July 27, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Linda was a lifelong resident of the city and touched the lives of many with her kindness and wisdom.

Throughout her life, Linda was dedicated to her work and her community. She began her career as a preschool head-start teacher, where she nurtured and inspired countless young minds. Later, she worked as a manager at McDonald's and a cashier at Walmart, always greeting customers with a warm smile and a kind word. Linda eventually retired from her clerical position with American Airlines.

Linda was an active member of the North Church of God in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she found great comfort and joy in her church community.

In her free time, Linda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was especially proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Linda's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and faith. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Ellsworth and Flora Agnes (Powell) Lemaster; her first husband, Earl Dean Swope; her second husband, Mike Older; her grandson, Dylan; two brothers; and four sisters.

She is survived by her children, Melissa Kay Morriss and Eric Dean Swope (Brenda); eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Daisey, Donna, and Lois.

Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service.
