Gene J. King, 92, of Elwood KS, died Tuesday December 19, 2023.
Gene was born September 11, 1931, in Elwood, KS to Emmett and Peggy King. He was a lifelong resident of Elwood and served in the National Guard. On March 18, 1955, he married Carol Ragsdale, she survives the home. For many years Gene owned his own business, King Radio and TV Lab in St. Joseph, MO. Although he had a knack for fixing TV’s and radios, he had a bigger love of livestock and started to buy and sell cattle for clients all over the United States. He never missed a sale date until the closing of the St. Joseph Stockyards in 2021. One thing we will miss about Gene, is his love of dancing and his amazing whistling skills, he could cut a rug and had a great voice.
Gene is survived by: Wife, Carol King. Daughter, Tracy Massey (Mike). Daughter In Law, Pam King. Grandchildren, Korey Massey, Cody Massey and Jacob King. Sister, Johnnie Phillips and his Adopted Grand-dog, Ginger
He is preceded in death by: His parents, Sons, Tim and Terry King. Brothers, Jim and Phil King.

Gene’s wishes were to be cremated. There are no scheduled services.
Visitation: 5-7 P.M. Friday, December 22, 2023, at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas.
