UPDATE: Power restored after accident shut off electricty in midtown St. Joseph

UPDATE:  Power has been restored, according to Evergy

St. Joseph police and emergency vehicles are on the scene near Hillyard Technical Center where an accident shut off power for about 10,000 St. Joseph residents this afternoon.

A vehicle crashed into a utility power pole, turning off the lights for thousands of St. Joseph residents.

Evergy crews are on the scene, attempting to restore power.

Evergy reports initially the accident caused 12 outages in midtown St. Joseph, affecting nearly 10,000 residences. Two outages remain, but they are the largest two, affecting approximately 9,900 residences and businesses.
