Nannette Noel, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at her home in Oregon, MO.
Born in 1947, Nannette was a graduate of Oregon High School before attending the University of Missouri-Columbia. There, she earned a dual degree in English and Library Science. She worked as a librarian at Rock Port, Neely Elementary and Stewartsville School.
In her youth, Nannette played the oboe and played in the Kansas City Youth Symphony.
In 1968, Nannette was married to Phillip Roger Noel on her birthday, August 10. Together, they shared nearly 58 years of marriage. Their shared faith led them to establish Grace Church of the Bible in Oregon, MO, in 1982, which later became CrossPointe Community Church in St. Joseph, MO. Nannette served the congregation faithfully as church secretary and Sunday school teacher.
Nannette loved God, the church, and her family. She enjoyed non-fiction literature, classical music, complex puzzles, Scrabble, intricate counted cross-stitch, baking cookies and tending to her garden.
Nannette is proceeded in death by her parents, Kermit and Thelma Bailey.
She is survived by her husband, Phil; her son, Blake Phillip Noel (LaShawn); and her daughter, Tricia Lenore Shonkwiler (Fred); brother, Herbert (Debra) Bailey; sisters, Dana (Byron) Fink and Lenora Ann Miles; grandchildren include Kallista Staples (Parker), Wyatt Noel (Maddi), Lily-Kate Noel, Weslyn Noel, Samuel Shonkwiler (Bethany), Micah Shonkwiler, and Elaina Shonkwiler. Her great-grandchildren include Knox Staples, and Eden and Liesel Shonkwiler, and nieces and nephews.

Family visitation: Tuesday, May 5, 2026, 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon. Funeral services: Wednesday, May 6, 2026, 11:00 am, CrossPointe Community Church, 2501 South Belt Hwy, St. Joseph, MO. Interment: 2:30 pm Wednesday at Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon.
