Donna Hochstetler, 84, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025.
She was born March 3, 1941 in Centerville, Iowa, to Donald and Viola (Waldron) Butler.
Donna married Samuel Hochstetler on June 24, 1967. They later divorced but remained friends.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Parkview School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana, then embarked on a long career as a registered nurse. She worked in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, Oak Knoll Retirement Center in Iowa City, and Pleasantview Nursing Home in Kalona, Iowa.
Donna enjoyed volunteering at Ten Thousand Villages in Iowa City and Damascus Christian Center in North Carolina. She also enjoyed adventure through traveling, with India and the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin being two of her favorite destinations. She also loved annual trips with her sisters.
When not on the road, Donna enjoyed going on walks and exploring, and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Cubs.
Her faith was very precious to her. Donna loved to read the Bible and had attended East Union Mennonite Church in Kalona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty Ormes.
Survivors include her children, Greg Hochstetler (Holly) and Jeannine Leonard (Tony); grandchildren, Aaron Leonard, Nathan Leonard (Rashel), Alannah Hochstetler, Abigail Hochstetler, and Gabriel Hochstetler; great-grandson, Alexander; and sister, Janet Wilson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Iowa. Natural Farewell under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
