Alice Nadine Phillips, 92, of Glastonbury, Connecticut, passed away on March 12, 2024. Born on the family farm in Stewartsville, Missouri on July 11, 1931, she reminisced frequently about her childhood on the farm. She was many things but above all, a beacon of unwavering support to those around her and the most phenomenal mother throughout the entirety of her life.
As the steadfast wife of a U.S. military service member, Alice embraced the nomadic life, relocating 19 times, each move a testament to her adaptability and strength. Of all the places she called home, London captured her heart and remained her favorite. While in Germany, she learned to cook schnitzel which quickly became her family’s favorite comfort meal.
At the age of fifty she received a bachelor’s in teaching from Southwest Texas State University. Alice devoted twenty fulfilling years to special education at New Braunfels and the Texas Independent School District. Her compassion and commitment to children with special needs left an indelible mark on the community.
Alice's legacy is carried on by her children, Robin and Douglas Phillips; grandchildren, Jonathon, Christopher, Alex, Rachel, and Stephen; sister, Rebecca Allen; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Gracie. She rejoins her parents, Ralph C. and Rebecca L. (Parr) Cook; son, Richard Phillips; and sisters, Doris Ross and Kay Wawrzyniak, in eternal rest.
