Esther Mae Flohrs, 74, of Atchison, Kansas, met her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, at Amberwell Atchison while surrounded by family.
Esther was born on June 15, 1950, to Alvin and Susan (Payton) Eylar. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1968. She married Jim Kahl in 1968, then divorced in 1977. Esther was remarried to Paul Flohrs in 1982, was separated in 1983, and later divorced. Esther was proud to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad and Fox-Vliet Drug Company. She also worked various other positions before settling into her career in 2001 at Citibank, where she retired in December 2012. Throughout her life, Esther was a devout Christian. Esther was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church congregation in Atchison and participated in Bible Study Groups in her assisted living home. She firmly and passionately believed in God and ensured her children knew God as well. Esther fiercely loved her children and grandchildren and supported them unwaveringly. Of all her accomplishments, she was most proud to be called Grandma.
Esther is survived by her mother, Susan Eylar; her children, Kassie Fedrick and Rob Beaman, Melody and Travis Breeden, Angela and Scott Davison, and Katherine Long; her grandchildren, Lauren Fedrick and Landen, Hudson, Bennett, and Grayson Breeden; and her siblings, LeRoy Eylar and Elana, Judith “Judy” Harris and Chuck, Eugene “Gene” Eylar and Terri, and Betty Sue Roth and Bryan. Esther was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Eylar, brothers Lewis and Alvin “Bud” Eylar, and sisters, Lawana Hanrahan and Alice Perry.
