Joseph Black 1950 - 2023

Joseph Black, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on November 10, 1950, in Elwood, Kansas, he was the son of the late William L. and Sylvia M. (Taylor) Black.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Denise L. (Edwards) Black, whom he married on December 27, 1976. He is also survived by his son, Steve Edwards (Christina); his grandchildren, Cameron Edwards and Anthony Edwards (Laura); his great-grandchildren, Bella and A.J. Edwards; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his sisters, Janice Dilley and Charlotte Walker, and his brothers, Billy and Lloyd Black.

Joseph proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for almost 30 years, a testament to his unwavering dedication and love for his country. His courageous spirit and die-hard Marine attitude were evident throughout his life, both in his service and in his personal interests.

An avid motorcycle rider, Joseph enjoyed the freedom and adventure that came with exploring the open road. He also found solace in fishing, appreciating the tranquility and patience it required. These hobbies allowed him to connect with nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.
