ATCHISON COUNTY—Three people were injured in an accident just before 7a.m. Friday in Atchison County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Kia Spectra driven by Tanner R. Hinson, 24, Atchison, was northwest bound on U.S. 73 two miles west of Atchison.
The driver lost control due the icy conditions. The car crossed into the path of a southeast bound 2005 Ford Explorer driven by 54-year-old Steven L. George.
The SUV struck the car on the passenger side. A southeast bound 1997 Oldsmobile driven by Andrew K. Ernzen, 32, Atchison, was unable to stop. The Oldsmobile rear-ended the Ford SUV and struck the Kia on the drivers side.
EMS transported Hinson to Mosaic in St. Joseph and George to the Effingham Medical Center. Ernzen was not injured. All three were properly restrained, according to the KHP. The KHP did not report George's hometown.
