Robert Eugene Blair, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 7, 2026.

He was born August 15, 1934 in St. Joseph to Edgar and Beatrice (Steele) Blair. He grew up in St. Joseph and cherished his summers in Weston, Missouri, on the farm with his aunts and uncles, where he fondly remembered plowing with mules, and going into town on the weekends via horse and wagon. He graduated from Central High School and attended St. Joseph Junior College, then later Missouri Western State University.

On December 17, 1955, Robert married the love of his life, Dolores Deane Meeks. They shared 70 years of marriage. She survives of the home.

He was a scheduling manager for Boehringer Ingelheim for more than 40 years until retirement. In his “retirement years,” Robert helped found Above & Beyond Concrete, where he worked for 30 more years.

Beyond work, Robert gave of himself through being a longtime member and deacon at Wyatt Park Baptist Church and being a lifelong blood donor.

Robert loved woodworking and the farm life on his seven-acre spread, where he had dogs, cats, horses, pigs, ducks, and fish. He loved animals and they loved him.

He also loved spending time with his family, especially with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their home.

His passing leaves a deep void in our hearts, one that cannot be filled. We will miss his voice, his strength, and the quiet comfort he brought into our lives. While we are heartbroken, we are also incredibly grateful for the life he lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William Blair.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores; daughters, Julie Lowe (Bob) and Jodie Hummer (John Jeffrey); grandchildren, Whitney Johnson (Jerramy), Andrew Lowe (Brianna), Theodore Lowe (Abigail), Chad Lowe (Lisa), Bryan Lowe (Karen), Kirsten Osei (Kweku), Slade Hummer (Cecelia), John Hummer, Jr. (Alayna), Heather Dunning (Justin), and Samantha Bolton (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alexus, Adrian, Aaron, Aidan, Cooper, Ian, Emerie, Theo, Maddox, Masyn, Isabelle, Ro, Alivia, Eliza, Johnny, Posey, Ellie, Cohen, Julian, Redding, and one on the way; great-great-grandchildren, Ila and Willow; sister-in-law, Elaine Stern; and beloved dog, Pepi.

Sunday, May 17, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to the St. Joseph Animal Shelter or Wyatt Park Baptist Church.
