St. Joseph police report a 24-year-old woman died in an apartment fire Friday afternoon.
Police say firefighters found the body of Amber Nagle after putting out the fire at 1703 North 36th Street, the Brittany Village Apartment Complex.
Police report firefighters and police officers responded to the apartment complex shortly before four o’clock Friday afternoon. Fire and police located a structure fire in Apartment 8. Police ushered residents to safety and began a count of residents. Firefighters broke into the apartment and extinguished the fire. They discovered Nagle’s body in a bedroom.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office is performing an autopsy.
