KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The MIAA announced its schedule for the 2020 women's soccer season, Wednesday afternoon. All 2020-2021 schedules were approved by the Association's CEO Council on Jun. 15, and the Institutional Representative Council (IRC) on Jun. 9.
In response to the NCAA Division II requirement of 14 maximum allowable contests for the 2020 women's soccer season, the MIAA Scheduling Subcommittee modified previous schedules. The coming season's schedule will feature 14 games against all MIAA opponents with the first two contests not counting toward the conference record or standings. Those first two games may also be flexed to the previous Fridays upon agreement by both schools. Each sport can adjust dates through a conference office approval process.
Missouri Western will open the season with non-conference games at Missouri Southern and Northwest Missouri State before opening MIAA play at Central Missouri. The Griffons' home opener will come on Sept. 27 against Missouri Southern. Due to a reduction in the field for the MIAA Women's Soccer Championships, the final week of the regular season will be a flex opponent. Match-ups will be based on the MIAA standings following the 13th game of the season. Teams ranked one through eight will face off with the lower seed visiting the highest seed. Teams ranked ninth through 12th will be matched up based on geographic proximity.
