Jerry Geneva McDowell went to be with her heavenly father on June 5, 2024 at the age of 73.
Born on March 23, 1951 in Oklahoma City, OK to Vernon and Madean Graves (Cole), Jerry grew up in Englewood, CO. She married Teddy Dunn in 1969, who passed away (1972). She married Robin McDowell in1973 and moved to Savannah, MO in 1979. She loved her family and especially enjoyed spending time at her grandchildren’s activities.
Jerry lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. She had a passion for nature, crafting, writing and was proud to be a published author. She served as a CASA volunteer, and in her spare time studied Hebrew and enjoyed sewing.
She enjoyed family gatherings during the holidays and birthdays. She loved studying each grandchild's unique personality and gifts and connected to each one in her own way. She spent much of her time preceding holidays and birthdays making personalized gifts for her children and grandchildren to reflect their own uniqueness. She was always up for a good laugh at family gatherings. Jerry was an avid reader and was constantly researching chronic pain/suffering and autoimmune disorders as she experienced both for many years.
Jerry was preceded in death by her parents and Brother Rick Graves.
Jerry is survived by her former husband Robin McDowell, Brother Leonard Graves (Melinda) and David Graves (Debbie), sons Chris Dunn (Becky), Justin Dunn, Ryan McDowell (Anna), Eric McDowell (Hollie), fourteen grandchildren Daniel Dunn, James Dunn, Kellen Dunn, Tripp Dunn, Abigail McDowell, Genevieve McDowell, Ansley McDowell, Eddie McDowell, Eva McDowell, Ariana McDowell, Tucker McDowell, Raina McDowell, Chance McDowell, Elliana McDowell, and two great grandchildren.
Jerry will be missed by her family. She is at peace now and our memories of her will never fade.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO.
