Edwin Louis Vollmer, 84, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on April 17, 2026.
He was born on April 12, 1942, in Atchison, Kansas, to Joseph Vollmer and Anna May Vollmer. Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1965. Following his military service, he built a long and respected career with Altec, where he worked for 26 years and retired in 2000 as a principal engineer.
Edwin had a lifelong passion for building and flying model airplanes, a hobby that brought him great joy and reflected his love for engineering and precision. He will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his service to his country, and his devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Vollmer and Anna Mae Vollmer.
Edwin is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Connie Vollmer; his sons and daughter-in-law, Steven and Toni Vollmer and David Vollmer; his step-daughter, Christine Logston; and his seven cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Chase, Avery, Eli, Braden, Kylie, and Lexie.
Edwin will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Blakely Cemetery, east of St. Joseph, MO
