Millions of dollars are still available for Buchanan County small businesses to apply for through CARES Act funding grants.
Kristi Bailey with the St. Joseph Chamber of Commerce says the $5,000 grants are now available to all small businesses who were affected by COVID-19.
"Initially it was two to 40 (employees), I believe, but now they are encouraging all small businesses to apply, even if you run your own business and have no employees, go ahead and apply and they will consider it," Bailey says. "It really is a great tool and we really need to get the word out there that even if you own your own business, you can still apply for this money."
Bailey says about 75 local businesses have received funding so far. Applications will be accepted through the end of the month. For more information or to apply, click here. Businesses with questions about the application process can also contact the St. Joseph Chamber at (816) 232-4461.
