Christopher Shawn Hornbuckle “Buck”, passed away on May 12, 2023, just ten days after celebrating his 52nd birthday. Born on May 2, 1971, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Buck filled the world with laughter and adventure from day one.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, Jr., and Jackie (Sherlock) Hornbuckle; sister, Jill Hornbuckle; paternal grandparents, Howard and Dorothy Hornbuckle; maternal grandparents, Pete and Meredith Sherlock; and great-great-grandmother, Lela Haskins. It is safe to say that heaven has one hell of a family reunion happening right now.
Survivors include his son, Dylan Hornbuckle; sister, Tobie Hornbuckle. Buck was also the fun uncle to nephews, Devin and Andre Hornbuckle, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Central High School in 1990, Buck chose to create a business where he could call the shots. As the owner of Hornbuckle General Contracting (HGC), Buck proved that there's no law that says a business owner can't also have a darn good time.
Buck's love for hunting and fishing was rivaled only by his love for spending time on the river, tucked away with a cooler full of beverages, laughing with friends, and living out what he called "the ultimate redneck dream."
With a great sense of humor and a larger-than-life presence, Buck was the life of the party and the king of raising hell. Hang out with him once, and you'd know why it was his way or the highway – because it always led to an unforgettable time!
The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
