Eric Sims, 61, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024.
He was born September 13, 1962, to Lester and Carolyn (Battagler) Sims in Titusville, Florida.
He graduated from Mulvane High School in 1981. He enjoyed playing for the high school football team.
At the age of 17, Eric joined the Mulvane Fire Department as a volunteer EMT. This opportunity impacted his life in many ways.
He later attended Butler Community College.
Eric met Paula Denise Cluck in June 2002. The couple had their first date five days later, Saturday. Three days later, Tuesday, he proposed, and she happily accepted. They were married November 16, 2002.
Eric was a happy-go-lucky guy with the best jokes and sense of humor. He enjoyed going to conservation areas to forage for mushrooms and other edible plants. Eric was also an excellent marksman. He loved to play strategy/war board games.
He had a lifelong interest in aircraft, and from a young age he could tell you the model name and type of different aircraft.
He worked at Boeing Military as a manufacturing engineer for 25 years. He was known to have a set of dice at his desk. He later worked at Winglet Technology for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Paula Sims; their son, Adam Cluck (Willow); his parents, Lester and Carolyn Sims; brother, Fred Sims (Janet); father-in-law, Darrell Cluck; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles who will continue to cherish his memory.
