A 71-year-old Chillicothe man has been arrested, accused of exposing himself to a young girl while at a Chillicothe business.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports he and Chillicothe Police Chief Jon Maples arrested Allen David Coates during a registered sex offender compliance check in the 300 block of Business 36 Highway.

Chillicothe police first reported Thursday afternoon that an elderly man was reported to have exposed himself to the girl at a business located in the 500 block of West Business 36. Officers responded to the scene, but the man had left. Later that afternoon, Cox and Maples located the man fitting the description given at the scene.

Coates is accused of exposing himself to juveniles in two different locations in Chillicothe. Coates has been charged with three counts of Class E Felony Sexual Misconduct involving a Child Under 15. Coates is originally from Georgia. He has been charged with possession of child pornography in DeKalb County.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office asks the public to report any similar incidents that might have occurred.
