Richard Allen Hendrix was born in Mound City, Missouri on February 7, 1954. He was one of nine children of Oscar Harold "Shorty" and Claire Ilene (Johnson) Hendrix.
Richard graduated from West Nodaway High School in Burlington Junction, Missouri. He grew up on the Patterson Ranch near Maitland, Missouri. He farmed the majority of his life. Richard loved his family, hunting, and watching Westerns and the Kansas City Chiefs.
On October 14, 1975 Richard married Betty Marie Paris, and they became parents of three children.
Richard passed away at the Pleasant View Care Center on May 28, 2025 at the age of 71. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James "Elrod" Hendrix and Harold Lawrence "Larry" Hendrix; and three sisters, Carrol Bruntmyer, Joyce Ann Young, and Bonnie Crum.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of their Tarkio, Missouri home; their children, Jason (Gina) Hendrix, Tarkio, Misty Hendrix (Randy Keever), Billings, Missouri, and Stacey (Randy) Keeler, Bigelow, Missouri; three sisters, Helen Runnels of Mound City, Karen Sipes of St. Joseph, and Sandy Cochran of Maryville; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
