Harrison Butker hit a pair of fourth-quarter field goals, including the go-ahead 34-yarder with 1:07 left, and the Kansas City Chiefs scrambled their way to a 20-17 comeback win over the New York Giants at Arrowhead Stadium Monday night.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 275 yards with a touchdown and an interception for the Chiefs. They overcame two more turnovers along with 12 penalties for more than 100 yards on a cold, wet night in Kansas City.

"We're still able to move the ball and doing a lot of things great, but whenever you turn the ball over or get a penalty and get pushed back, that kind of ruins drives," Mahomes said. "But, I think we've done a lot of good things."

Tyreek Hill caught 12 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. Running back Derrick Gore had 11 carries for 48 yards and a score.

Daniel Jones had 222 yards passing with two touchdowns and a pick for the Giants. He also was sacked three times, including twice after the Chiefs kicked off with just over a minute left in the game.

There wasn’t any one play that doomed the Giants. There were about a dozen little ones.

The interception in the first quarter by Jones when he was caught staring down his target, which led to a Chiefs touchdown.

The two personal foul penalties by linebacker Tae Crowder in the fourth quarter. The wobbly punt from Riley Dixon that set up the Chiefs for the go-ahead field goal with just over a minute left in regulation. And the breakdowns that kept New York from mounting a comeback of its own.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid gives credit to his defense, and also Chiefs Kingdom.

"I was proud of our defense and the way they played," Reid said. "I was proud of our crowd for sticking with us through some ups and downs."

The Chiefs stay home Sunday afternoon to host the Green Bay Packers (7-1). Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. The game will be carried on KFEQ Radio (680 AM, 95.3 FM) and Q Country 92.7 FM in St. Joseph.

Green Bay has won seven straight since losing its season opener to New Orleans, most recently beating previously undefeated Arizona 24-21 this past Thursday.
