Noah Bodenhausen hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the 12th inning, and the St. Joseph Mustangs are back in first place with a 7-6 win over the Clarinda A’s on Thursday night at Phil Welch Stadium.
Easton Bruce scored from third to win it after Bodenhausen’s single down the third baseline.
Bodenhausen was 2-for-3 with a run scored. He also drew three walks. Lafayette alum Cole Slibowski went 3-for-5 at the plate. Ryan Callahan went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
On the mound, Bishop LeBlond product Frank Gall gave up just one earned run in six innings, striking out nine and walking three.
Ryker Curry got the win, pitching two scoreless innings to end the game.
St. Joseph improves to 22-11 overall and is back in first place in the MINK League North Division.
The Mustangs go on the road to face Des Moines Friday night, but Mustangs alumni will play at home Friday against the U.S. WarDogs - a non-profit baseball team made up of players from the armed forces that raises money for various veteran causes.
First pitch in that game from Phil Welch Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
